The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the School District of Indian River County (SDIRC), has arrested a local high school student accused of abusing the FortifyFL anonymous reporting system.
According to investigators, the student submitted multiple false reports through the app with the intent to harass, threaten, and cause emotional distress to other students and staff members. The student has been taken into custody and transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
The FortifyFL system, created by the Florida Department of Education and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, allows students and the public to submit anonymous tips about potential threats or suspicious activity in schools. The goal is to provide a fast and secure way to alert authorities and help prevent acts of violence.
