BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – I had the honor Wednesday of taking part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony with local citizens, business members of the community, and the Palm Bay Chamber who helped in the rebuild of Serene Harbor as they reopened their doors following a recent structure fire.

In late April, Serene Harbor was damaged by a kitchen fire, and thankfully while no residents were injured the blaze required Serene Harbor to relocate all of their shelter residents temporarily due to damage from fire, smoke, and water.

If not for the quick thinking of the advocates who acted professionally and brave all while following the safety protocols they had been taught, Serene Harbor would have had even more extensive damage to the facility.

Following an amazing community effort to help raise funds for the rebuild, several community partners who stepped up to assist in the construction and the amazing staff and volunteers of Serene Harbor rolled up their sleeves and finished the project as quick as possible so the clients could get back to their home and normal lives.

Please join me in thanking Farm Bureau, the Lions Club, and all the citizens who assisted in the rebuild for their generous support, as well as Armstrong Construction and Restoration for helping restore Serene Harbor.

And of course, a huge “thank you” to the amazing team and staff at Serene Harbor for all they do every day to help protect victims of Domestic Violence.
