Democratic Councilwoman Sammie Brown Martin successfully defended her Rockledge City Council seat against Brevard Republican Liberty Caucus Chair and former Space Coast Young Republicans President Josiah Gattle.

Rockledge, which is by far a majority Republican district made a bold statement today with their ballots. Josiah, who has a troubled record in Brevard campaigns in recent history kept up his same antics in his own election this year. From using his UPS stores as campaign offices, to lying about being endorsed by the Brevard Republican Executive Committee. Josiah was the only Republican running in this race and still failed to secure the endorsement.

Rockledge City Council is a non-partisan race, however Gattle bet big on ensuring everyone knew that he was the Republican in the race, trying to take advantage of the voter registration advantage. But even the thousands of voters in his own party could not make up his shortcomings as a candidate.

“His record speaks for itself,” one Republican told us at the polls today. “When he was the President of the Young Republicans, he actually endorsed a candidate that was arrested for using a glory hole in a Walmart bathroom.”

Gattle faces a litany of campaign finance violations, and has even been escorted from Republican meetings by law enforcement on numerous occasions.

Sammie ran unopposed her last election, and was surprised to see Josiah enter the race due to her popularity and success.

When asked for a comment, Sammie stated, “Glory be to God.”
