At approximately 9:10 a.m., officers received the call and arrived on the scene just three minutes later, only to be met with immediate danger. Shortly after their arrival, gunshots were heard from inside the residence in question. The suspect, later identified as 29-year-old Joseph Fleming, a convicted felon with a long criminal history, exited the residence and engaged officers in a gunfight.

The exchange of gunfire occurred around 9:18 a.m., with the suspect firing at officers before fleeing the scene on foot through neighboring yards.
