Published on

One man is dead and 3 others were injured in a crash involving a Brightline train and a SUV in Melbourne on Wednesday afternoon, according to police. Video footage from a nearby business shows the Orange Honda Pilot drive around a vehicle stopped at the tracks and around the guards directly into the side of the train as it passed.

The incident occurred at the railroad crossing on W.H. Jackson and US1 near downtown Melbourne

Melbourne police are currently working the scene. The northbound train could be seen stopped on the tracks about a quarter of a mile from the scene.

You can tell from this screenshot from our live video earlier that the guard is just long enough to block one lane. He had to drive on the wrong side of the road to do what he did.

Police say they are unaware of any injuries of passengers on the train.

We will update when more information is available.
