The Titusville Police Department’s Special Investigations Section—comprised of highly skilled undercover detectives and supervisors—continues to deliver outstanding results in the fight against violent crime and illegal narcotics.

In two recent high-profile investigations, our detectives executed search warrants that led to the removal of dangerous drugs and firearms from our streets:

Case #1

• 11 firearms recovered

• 366 grams (¾ lb) of methamphetamines

• 70 grams of fentanyl (less than a quarter of a pound)

• 5 grams of heroin

Case #2

• 1.5 pounds of fentanyl

• 0.5 pound of crack cocaine

• 1 pound of methamphetamines

• 1 pound of heroin

• 2 firearms

To put it in perspective: just 2 milligrams of fentanyl can be fatal. To put such a small quantity into perspective, 2 milligrams of lethal fentanyl is like 5-7 grains of salt. The 1.65 pounds of fentanyl recovered in these cases is enough to potentially kill over 370,000 people—which is well over the population of North Brevard. This is a deadly drug and keeping it off the streets saves lives.

The estimated street value of the seized narcotics exceeds $100,000. These felony offenses carry steep penalties, including minimum mandatory prison sentences.

This is just a glimpse into the relentless work our Special Investigations Section puts in day in and day out. This team continues to tackle dangerous and complex investigations with focus and professionalism—keeping deadly drugs and illegal firearms out of the hands of the criminal element.

These investigations are still being actively conducted therefore no other information will be released at this time.

We commend our undercover detectives—and the leadership behind them—for their commitment, dedication, and excellence in keeping Titusville and the surrounding communities safe.
