Homeless man arrested for attempted armed rape at Lori Wilson Park

With the assistance of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, Detectives with the Cocoa Beach Police Department have arrested William Edward Russell Jr. (no address) for his involvement in an incident that occurred earlier today at Lori Wilson Park.

Mr. Russell Jr. is officially charged with:

Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon

False Imprisonment

ARREST: Cocoa Beach Jr/Sr High School Math Teacher Charged With Having Sexual Relations With A StudentBrevard County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit agents arrested 37-year-old Kirsten Rose yesterday afternoon on charges of Lewd and Indecent Exposure Offenses Against a Student by an Authority Figure and 5 counts of Unlawful Sexual Activity with a Minor.Rose is a math teacher at Cocoa Beach Jr/Sr High School.According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began in March after the parents of a male student became suspicious when he arrived home late from work. After checking his location and finding him at an unknown residence, the student initially claimed he was at his “girlfriend’s house” but refused to identify her. Under continued questioning by his parents, he eventually admitted he was in a relationship with his teacher.SVU agents launched an investigation that revealed the student and Rose began communicating outside of school through Instagram in November 2025. Those communications continued into February 2026, when the relationship turned sexual on multiple occasions during February and March of this year.Rose was booked into the Brevard County Jail on a No Bond status.
