During the subsequent autopsy, investigators were provided evidence of acute and extensive trauma to the child that resulted in his death. The Brevard County Medical Examiner’s Office deemed the case a homicide.

Through investigation by detectives, to include interviews with the child’s parents, probable cause was developed for the arrest of the child’s father, Edrick Lamar Davis. On June 20*, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Davis, arresting him without incident. Davis was charged with 1st-Degree Felony Murder of a Child and Aggravated Child Abuse. Davis was remanded to the Brevard County Jail Complex without bond.
