Fatal crash this morning in Cocoa

Troopers are on-scene of a fatal crash that occurred at approximately 7:30 A.M.

The crash occurred on U.S.1 north of Tupelo Circle in Cocoa, Brevard County.

The crash involves a V1 (2018 Kia Soul) and V2 (2016 Dodge Journey).

The sequence of events that lead to this crash are still under investigation.

V1 Driver (53-year-old female from Sharpes) was pronounced deceased on-scene.

V2 Driver was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

We currently only have preliminary information as our Traffic Homicide Investigators are still investigating this fatal collision.

There is currently roadblock in the area. All northbound lanes and the southbound inside lane of U.S. 1 north of Tupelo Circle are currently blocked.

This crash remains under investigation.

Brevard's early vote is growing every day. NPA turnout is growing too, but it keeps falling further behind.Three days into early voting, 64,059 Brevard voters have cast a ballot by mail or in person. That is 14.3% of the county's 447,257 registered voters, up from 11.6% on Tuesday evening and about 8% on Monday afternoon.Here is how each group has moved:Democrats: 16.4% Tuesday, 19.9% todayRepublicans: 10.9% Tuesday, 13.8% todayNPA: 8.5% Tuesday, 10.4% todayRepublicans had the biggest day. The Florida Bar has fired Kade McLendon, the employee whose Instagram account was used to send racist, homophobic and violent direct messages to Miami Hurricanes defensive lineman Damon Wilson II.In a statement posted this afternoon, the Bar said it has concluded its internal investigation and called the messages "reprehensible and inconsistent with the mission, values, and policies of The Florida Bar."McLendon denies sending the messages. The Bar said he did not provide enough evidence to show his Instagram account had been compromised, and his employment was terminated effective today.Wilson received about a dozen messages after Miami's 43-35 double-overtime win over Florida State on Saturday. He shared screenshots on his Instagram Stories. According to published reports, the messages included the N-word, a homophobic slur, references to slavery, and threats of rape and violence against Wilson and his family.McLendon had worked as a computer technician for The Florida Bar since June 2024, according to screenshots of his LinkedIn profile, which described him as a Florida State graduate.
