Cocoa Beach Police arrest woman for passing fake $100 bills

Arrest made in Passing Counterfeit Currency

On the 22nd of February 2024, the Cocoa Beach Police Department arrested Brenda Stefan Silvera Klembert, 33 of New Jersey for the charges of Uttering Forged Instruments and Theft. The arrest was in reference to multiple counterfeit $100.00 bills being passed at various locations throughout Brevard County.

Two establishments within Cocoa Beach notified law enforcement concerning the counterfeit bills. During the investigation and subsequent arrest, additional victims were identified. It is believed that other businesses may have been targeted by these subjects. If you believe that you may have received some of these counterfeit bills, please contact your local law enforcement agency.

The Cocoa Beach Police Department is committed to actively pursuing criminal leads that affect our business community. This investigation is ongoing. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact the Cocoa Beach Police Department at 321-868-3251.

Brevard's early vote is growing every day. NPA turnout is growing too, but it keeps falling further behind.Three days into early voting, 64,059 Brevard voters have cast a ballot by mail or in person. The Florida Bar has fired Kade McLendon, the employee whose Instagram account was used to send racist, homophobic and violent direct messages to Miami Hurricanes defensive lineman Damon Wilson II.In a statement posted this afternoon, the Bar said it has concluded its internal investigation and called the messages "reprehensible and inconsistent with the mission, values, and policies of The Florida Bar."McLendon denies sending the messages. The Bar said he did not provide enough evidence to show his Instagram account had been compromised, and his employment was terminated effective today.Wilson received about a dozen messages after Miami's 43-35 double-overtime win over Florida State on Saturday. He shared screenshots on his Instagram Stories. According to published reports, the messages included the N-word, a homophobic slur, references to slavery, and threats of rape and violence against Wilson and his family.McLendon had worked as a computer technician for The Florida Bar since June 2024, according to screenshots of his LinkedIn profile, which described him as a Florida State graduate.
