Cocoa Beach Police Arrest Cape Canaveral Man in Significant Elder Fraud Case

On December 17, 2025, Cocoa Beach Police Department arrested Elias Staker, 49, of Cape Canaveral on multiple fraud-related charges following a months-long investigation involving stolen checks from an elderly victim.

The investigation determined that Staker allegedly wrote and cashed numerous stolen checks over a several-month period, resulting in losses totaling more than $33,000.

As a result of the investigation, Staker was charged with 38 counts of Uttering Forged Checks (Felony, 3rd Degree) and one count of Scheme to Defraud (Felony, 2nd Degree).

After his arrest Staker was transported to the Brevard County Jail, where he is currently being held with no bond.
