VIERA, Fla. — Brevard Public Schools says it has reached the highest graduation rate in district history, reporting a 92.7% high school graduation rate for the 2024-2025 school year based on data released by the Florida Department of Education.
In a district news release, BPS said the new figure marks a notable jump from last year’s 89.8% and exceeds Florida’s newly announced statewide record of 92.2%. Read the district announcement here.
“Our graduation rate reflects the hard work of students and the dedication of our educators,” BPS Chief of Schools James Rehmer said in the release, crediting student support systems and districtwide focus on keeping seniors on track.
Schools with the biggest gains
BPS highlighted several campuses that posted the largest year over year increases, led by Brevard Virtual School.
- Brevard Virtual School: +12.2%
- Bayside High School: +10.1%
- Cocoa High School: +8.6%
- Eau Gallie High School: +6.9%
- Astronaut High School: +6.1%
- Palm Bay Magnet High School: +5.3%
The district also reported additional graduation gains at Melbourne High, Heritage High, Rockledge High, Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High, Titusville High, Space Coast Jr./Sr. High, and Viera High.
Perfect 100% graduation rates and 98% standouts
BPS said West Shore Jr./Sr. High School and Edgewood Jr./Sr. High School again posted 100% graduation rates. The district also noted that Merritt Island High School, Satellite High School, and Viera High School each finished above 98%.
Superintendent Dr. Mark Rendell said the graduation rate is a districtwide measure that reflects years of work across all grade levels, not just what happens in high school.
How Florida calculates graduation rates
Florida’s graduation rate is reported as a four year adjusted cohort graduation rate, which generally measures the percentage of students who earn a standard diploma within four years of first entering ninth grade, while accounting for certain documented transfers and student removals. The Florida DOE’s 2024-2025 graduation rate report is available here.
State education officials announced Florida’s statewide record on January 13, 2026. The DOE news release can be read here.
BPS closed its announcement with a salute to the Class of 2025, calling the new district record a milestone made possible by students, teachers, staff, and community partners working toward the same goal: getting seniors across the stage with a diploma.
