Arrest Made in Fatal Hit-and-Run in Satellite Beach

Satellite Beach, FL — The Satellite Beach Police Department has made an arrest in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred on the evening of November 22, 2024. Authorities identified and located a Ford F-150 pickup truck believed to have been involved in the collision, which took place at approximately 6:12 PM in front of Cadillac Cove on Highway A1A in Satellite Beach.

The crash resulted in the death of a pedestrian, who was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center but succumbed to his injuries. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.

Overnight, investigators located the suspected vehicle at a residence on Dorset Lane in an unincorporated area north of Satellite Beach. The discovery led to the arrest of 64-year-old John Thomas Vazquez Sr. (DOB: 02/23/1960). Vazquez has been charged with “Leaving the Scene of a Crash Involving Death,” a severe felony. He is currently being held at the Brevard County Jail Complex without bond.

According to the initial police investigation, the Ford F-150 is believed to have sustained front-end damage during the collision. The driver fled the scene before officers arrived, prompting a widespread effort to identify and locate the vehicle.
