Brevard County officials have mandated the removal of a backyard “man cave” constructed from stacked shipping containers within 10 days.
The county spokesperson stated that the homeowner on Diane Circle received a code violation notice for the setup. Failure to comply within the given timeframe could result in daily fines up to $1,000.
Although the county initially greenlit the project – a contemporary living space formed by welding shipping containers together – complaints from neighbors arose. The county’s regulations prohibit stacking of these containers.
Officials later admitted the construction permit was mistakenly granted due to an oversight. They discussed the matter privately with the homeowner, who has hinted at possible legal recourse if asked to dismantle the structure.
