Janice Crisp lands surprising endorsement from a Brevard County Commissioner, or is it?

Published on

Janice Crisp (Republican-Palm Bay) is running for seat 2 of the Palm Bay City Council. She is one of 5 candidates who face each other August 18th in the primary. The top 2 will go forward to the general election in November.

Crisp has been a polarizing figure in local politics. There are numerous bizarre videos posted throughout the local Facebook political groups showing her erratic behavior, and derogatory comments towards citizens, sometimes leading to violence.

What some call her equivalent in behavior on the Brevard County Commission, Chair Bryan Lober has financially endorsed Janice in her bid for election to Palm Bay.

To date, Crisp has only been able to raise just over $500 in contributions. $119.57 of that has come from Commissioner Lober. Although there is another Republican in the same race, Peter Filiberto who has raised over $3,600 so far, Lober has not supported him.

The two are often seen together at local political events, but it will likely take much more than an endorsement from him for her to make it out of the primary race.

She has struggled gaining any support from the residents of Palm Bay, and has a history of violence and evictions according to public records, to overcome if she wants to gain the public trust.

However when questioned in a live interview about her history with local blog Palm Bay Live, she abruptly ended the video and in-turn threatened the host demanding he take it down.

She also stated that she would tell her friend State Representative Randy Fine, who was scheduled to interview the next day, not to participate. Several hours later, Fine called the host and backed out of the interview.

Besides her support from Lober and Fine, Crisp has not been able to gain the confidence of any other elected Republicans to endorse her.
