VIERA, Fla. – Brevard County Circuit Judge Steve Henderson has sentenced a Palm Bay man to 25 years in state prison, followed by lifetime probation, for fatally shooting 19-year-old Frank Glover of Rockledge as Glover tried to drive away from a crowded Halloween party at the Hive Lounge in 2021.
Latrawn S. Servant, 33, pleaded no contest to second-degree murder and related charges on Oct. 20 under a plea agreement with the Office of State Attorney William Scheiner, avoiding a trial and a possible life sentence. Under the terms set by Henderson, Servant could be sent back to prison for life if he ever violates his probation.
Judge Henderson’s Sentence
In addition to the murder conviction, Henderson adjudicated Servant guilty of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, shooting into a vehicle, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The judge imposed 24.5 years on each of those counts, to run concurrently with the 25-year murder sentence.
Henderson also credited Servant with the roughly 4.4 years he spent in the Brevard County Jail without bond while awaiting trial.
Henderson presides over Division H, a felony criminal division at the Moore Justice Center in Viera. Under an April 2026 administrative order signed by Chief Judge Melanie Chase, he also serves as the administrative judge over the Brevard County criminal division, and he oversees conflict counsel fee review for the circuit.
Henderson has handled other high-profile homicide cases in Brevard. In December 2023, he sentenced Carlos Jones II to life in prison after a jury convicted Jones of second-degree murder in the 2022 shooting death of 23-year-old Sha’Dayla Johnson.
Stand Your Ground Claim Rejected
Servant had claimed he acted in self-defense, but he lost a Stand Your Ground hearing on Oct. 19, the day before he accepted the plea deal.
At that hearing, Assistant State Attorneys Samantha Barrett and Rachel Kleinpeter presented security video showing Servant standing in the roadway waiting for Glover to approach in his silver Chevrolet Camaro. According to prosecutors, Servant refused to retreat and fired four times through the driver’s side window. The Camaro then crashed into a tree, and Glover died of his gunshot wounds at Holmes Regional Medical Center.
“He did the right thing,” Barrett said. “He accepted responsibility and avoided a possible life sentence.”
Halloween Night 2021
The shooting happened around 11 p.m. on Oct. 31, 2021, at the Hive Lounge at 2040 Palm Bay Road NE, where a Halloween party was underway. At the time, police told reporters they did not even know who had booked the event.
More than 100 people had gathered for the costume party, and in addition to Glover, a friend of Glover and a Merritt Island man were wounded, according to police.
According to the arrest affidavit, numerous witnesses said Servant and the Merritt Island man were acting as if they were security for the lounge, trying to move people from the parking lot into the venue. Investigators said Glover’s friend returned fire during the encounter and struck the man who had arrived with Servant.
Police said Glover tried to drive around Servant, who was standing in the road, when Servant fired into the open driver’s window. Palm Bay officers later found Glover outside the crashed Camaro at the Arlington Pine Apartments behind the lounge.
Arrest Came Six Months Later
Palm Bay police arrested Servant in May 2022, more than six months after the shooting. Detectives said surveillance footage showed Glover driving into the apartment complex parking lot, then trying to leave while Servant stood in the middle of the road and fired into the car.
Servant was initially charged with second-degree murder with a firearm, shooting into an occupied motor vehicle, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. He has remained in the Brevard County Jail without bond since his arrest.
