A longtime Brevard radio personality known to listeners as “Super Dave” is now at the center of a felony case in Volusia County after investigators say he was caught up in a multi-agency child exploitation sting during 2026 race week in Port Orange.
David William Poore of Melbourne was arrested on Feb. 14, 2026. Court records reviewed by The Space Coast Rocket show the case, State of Florida v. David William Poore, remains open in Volusia County under case number 2026 100987 CFDB. The case now includes three felony counts: traveling to meet a minor, unlawful use of a two-way communication device, and soliciting a child, or a person believed to be a child, for unlawful sexual conduct using computer services or devices. Florida law classifies the traveling charge under section 847.0135 as a second-degree felony, while section 934.215 makes unlawful use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony a third-degree felony.
Poore’s arrest came as part of “Operation Last Lap”, which Port Orange police described as a proactive online investigation targeting predators seeking unlawful sexual activity and the exploitation of children. 13 people were arrested in the operation. Public descriptions of the sweep said the Port Orange Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children unit worked with the FBI, Department of Homeland Security, Lake City Police Department, Orlando Police Department, and the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, with the Southeast Volusia Regional SWAT Team assisting in the apprehensions.
At the time of publication, the detailed probable cause narrative was not publicly viewable through the online docket reviewed by The Space Coast Rocket, leaving unanswered questions about the specific communications and allegations investigators say led to Poore’s arrest.
The case is drawing immediate attention in Brevard because Poore was not an unknown name. He had a long public history in local radio. A page on 98.5 The Beach says on-air host Ty credits Dave “Super Dave” Poore with bringing him to the station, while a 2024 MARC Media Group post identified David Poore as the company’s Programming Operations Manager and praised his background in programming, promotions, compliance, strategic planning, and community relations.
Public records also show Poore had a visible role in community events beyond the airwaves. Minutes from an August 2021 board meeting of the Early Learning Coalition of Brevard County show “Dave Poore (98.5 The Beach)” was recognized for 10 years of service and support for the organization’s annual toy drive.
Poore has pleaded not guilty, and the charges remain allegations unless and until they are proven in court. Still, the case marks a stunning fall for a man whose voice and name were familiar to Brevard listeners for years and whose public career was built in part on community-facing radio and local events.
