Palm Bay, FL — Heritage High School Principal Stephen Link addressed concerns regarding a report of a single gunshot heard after last night’s football game. In a statement shared on social media, Link confirmed that after working closely with the Palm Bay Police Department, it was determined that no shot was fired.

The initial report caused concern among students, parents, and staff, but the thorough investigation concluded without any evidence supporting the claim. Link emphasized the importance of community vigilance and urged students and staff to report any suspicious activity.

Multiple parents reported on social media witnessing the investigation while waiting to pick up their children from the game. One parent noted that she saw 5 Palm Bay Police cars with lights and sirens race to one end of the parking lot. Others reported witnessing law enforcement searching vehicles through windows for a possible gun.

Since school started this year, multiple football games in neighboring counties have reported gun incidents. Just last week in Daytona, a Cocoa Tigers game was delayed after a student was found attempting to bring a gun into the stadium, but was caught when searched at the gate. He and other fled, but were quickly apprehended and the game resumed.

Link encouraged anyone with additional information to reach out to him directly or the Palm Bay Police Department. Heritage High School remains vigilant, and the administration continues to work closely with law enforcement to ensure a safe learning environment.
