78-Year-Old Melbourne Woman Killed in I-95 Accident after tire malfunction

Brevard County, FL — Tragedy struck on Interstate 95 near mile marker 177 today when a 78-year-old Melbourne woman was involved in a fatal single-vehicle crash. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the incident occurred at approximately 11:49 a.m.

The driver of the vehicle, a 2008 Ford F-250 pickup truck, was traveling northbound on I-95 in the outside lane just north of CR-516 (Palm Bay Road). Investigators determined that the front right tire of the vehicle suffered a critical malfunction. As a result, the truck veered off the roadway and onto the grass shoulder, colliding with two trees and a fence before coming to a stop.

Despite wearing her seatbelt, the driver was pronounced deceased on the scene. Troopers have confirmed that the next of kin has been notified.

The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash to determine if any additional factors contributed to this tragic accident. The name of the deceased has not yet been released to the public.
