3-year-old killed by car after running into traffic; mother injured trying to save them

At 8:20pm last night on Dairy Road and Hall St. in West Melbourne near 192, a vehicle stopped in the median to off-load some passengers. ATV’s from a trailer according to witnesses prevented them from pulling into the residence.

While stopped, an unidentified 3-year-old child ran out into the road and was struck by a passing Honda Pilot. The child later died at Holmes Regional Medical Center.

The child’s 31-year-old mother was also injured while trying to save the child.
