On February 20 and 21, 2023, the Palm Bay and Melbourne Police Departments received numerous threats to Heritage and Palm Bay High Schools.

Through investigative measures from both departments, a 14 year old student was identified and later arrested on February 24th. The student was charged with multiple counts of making false reports concerning planting a bomb or use of firearms, making writing or electronic threats to do violence and disruption of a school function.

The Palm Bay Police Department takes all threats to our schools seriously and will use any and all means to criminally charge anyone who makes them. The safety of our students is our primary focus and our agency will have zero tolerance for threats of any kind.
