Toyota is on the verge of achieving the capability to produce solid-state batteries for electric vehicles (EVs) on a mass scale, at the same the pace of conventional batteries. They plan on production to commence around 2027 or 2028.
They recently unveiled a new development that could cut the cost and size of these batteries in half, which would lead to a doubling of the range of EVs, reaching up to 1,200 km 10 minutes or less of charging time.
Solid-state batteries are known for offering improved safety and stability compared to traditional liquid electrolyte lithium-ion batteries and are considered crucial for the widespread commercialization of EVs.
