According to political strategists in Tallahassee, Debbie Mayfield is considering a run for Congressman Byron Donalds who will be abandoning his seat to run for Governor in 2026. Mayfield is currently running for her former Florida Senate seat which she just termed out of last year, but a loophole she’s exploiting is allowing her to resign from her current State Representative seat that she just won in October to rerun for her former Senate seat. If she decides to run for Donalds’ congressional seat, she will have to resign again in order to run should she win the seat she’s currently running for. It’s estimated she has spent nearly $1 million for this special election, flooding mailboxes with political mailers several times a week and well as tv commercials and other advertising.
