A 23-year-old man has been arrested following a fatal shooting at a 7-11 in Bayside Lakes. The incident was an attempted carjacking. The victim died at the hospital from multiple gunshot wounds.

The suspect, Evan Armon Chambliss was captured in Indian River County after a high-speed chase, resulting in the use of stop sticks.

“There is no evidence that he knew the victim. This crime was one of opportunity that ended with the senseless murder of an innocent man,” Palm Bay police Chief Mario Augello said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family. This act was one of pure evil, this is the only way to describe the heinous actions of the individual.’
