Melbourne, FL — The 56th Annual South Brevard Debutante Ball was held on May 25, 2025, at the Hilton Melbourne, continuing a cherished tradition that honors the accomplishments, service, and cultural heritage of outstanding young women from Brevard County.

This year’s formal presentation introduced a distinguished coterie of debutantes:

Miss Sharmaine Jovene Garcia, Miss Madeline Louise Helms, Miss Emma RoseMarie Jeffreys, Miss Avery Claire Johnson, Miss Kaitlynn Taylor LaNois, Miss Nicole Allyson Lewis, Miss Katelyn Erin Merritt, Miss Devon Sophia Modugno, Miss Ashlee Jamison Mullen, Miss Valentina Ann Velarde, and Miss Alexandra Elise Ward.

Miss Lewis and Miss Jeffreys proudly followed in the footsteps of their mothers—Mrs. Amanda Shaw Lewis and Mrs. Linda Jeffreys-Scholle—who made their own debuts in 1998 and 1989, respectively. Miss Johnson, Miss Lewis, Miss Mullen, and Miss Ward continued a family tradition as well, joining their sisters in being presented by the South Brevard Debutante Program.

Since its founding in 1969, the program has welcomed 967 debutantes, each representing the values of academic excellence, community involvement, and personal development. As the organization looks ahead, 2026 will mark the 57th year of the South Brevard Debutante Program.

“This milestone is a testament to the strength of the traditions that have been passed down through generations,” said Mrs. Amanda Shaw Lewis, Vice President of the program. “Our program continues to inspire young women to reach their full potential in character and traditions while fostering a sense of commitment to giving back to the community.”

In addition to recognizing individual achievement, the program has had a lasting impact on the broader community. Through volunteer work and service initiatives, the debutantes support local charities and causes, exemplifying a strong commitment to leadership and civic responsibility.

Beyond community service, the program offers a well-rounded educational experience with training in event planning, social media, business and social etiquette, self-defense, healthy relationships, and emotional and physical wellbeing. The organization is a 501(c)(3) not-for- profit organization, led by uncompensated volunteers.

The South Brevard Debutante Program is now accepting applications for its 57th year. The annual cycle will once again culminate in a formal ball in May of 2026, where the next group of young women will be introduced to the community as leaders of tomorrow.
