UPDATE 01/02/2025 @ 7:15 pm: Detectives took 18 year old Corban Williams into custody this afternoon. He is being processed at the West Melbourne Police Department and will be delivered to the Brevard County Jail on the following charges:

West Melbourne, FL – In the early hours of January 2, 2025, multiple 911 calls reported the sound of gunfire in the area of Josh Court and Rocket Lane within the Reserves of Melbourne Apartment Complex. Officers from the West Melbourne Police Department responded swiftly to the scene, discovering evidence of a shooting.
A victim later sought treatment at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The West Melbourne Police Department confirmed that an active investigation is ongoing, with officers remaining at the scene to collect evidence and gather information.
Deputy Chief Richard Cordeau stated, “We believe this was an isolated and targeted attack.” Authorities are urging residents in the area to review any security camera footage from midnight to 1:30 a.m. on January 2 for possible evidence. Investigators are specifically looking for footage related to two individuals, described as Black males who may have been wearing masks, seen in the far northwest section of the apartment complex during the time of the incident.
Residents or anyone with information pertinent to the investigation are encouraged to contact the police at intel@westmelbourne.gov. Deputy Chief Cordeau emphasized that the department is actively pursuing leads and will follow up with anyone who submits relevant information.
