School Board Hires Interim Superintendent for BPS

Viera, FL — The Brevard School Board has announced Dr. Robert Schiller as the Interim Superintendent for Brevard Public Schools. Dr. Schiller will officially assume his leadership duties beginning January 1, 2023.

Dr. Schiller has extensive experience serving districts on an interim basis including as Interim Superintendent of Falls Church City Public Schools, VA; Interim Senior Deputy Superintendent for the Los Angeles Unified School District; and Interim Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer for Baltimore City Public Schools.

“I am thrilled and honored to be a part of the BPS staff and the Brevard community,” said Dr. Schiller. “We will work tirelessly to provide an excellent education for our students and an excellent environment for our employees.”

Dr. Schiller holds four degrees, including a master’s and doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania as well as a master’s from the University of Mississippi. He served in the Army Reserves/National Guard for seven years which included two years of active duty.

Brevard School Board Chair Matt Susin offered the following statement on behalf of the board: “Dr. Schiller comes to Brevard as an accomplished educational leader. His fundamental values, interpersonal skills and collaborative leadership style make him the right person for the job during this period of transition.”
