POWER OUTAGE AT Thomas Jefferson Middle School CANCELS CLASSES FOR THE DAY

We have been informed that a power issue at Jefferson Middle School will not be fixed today. Florida Power & Light is working on a damaged transformer that has caused the school to only have limited power, no phone service, no internet, and no air conditioning.

With that being said, we have made the decision to cancel school for the day. Parents can come to the school now to pick up their student(s). Our school buses will take riders home for the day. Staff will stay with students as long as needed.

Assistant Fire Chief in Georgia killed during rescue efforts for Hurricane Helene. Vernon Leon Davis and other firefighters had been setting up barricades in an area where a live power line had fallen, Blackshear Police Chief Christopher Wright said in an interview, citing a preliminary investigation.
