Brevard Public Schools published the below concepts for the new Viera Middle School to be built next to Viera High School.
June 28, 2022 School Board Awards Construction Management Services Contract
In response to the District’s Request for Qualifications for construction management services for the new Mid County Middle School project, the District’s Selection Committee reviewed four proposals. All four firms were shortlisted, interviewed, and ranked as follows:
- Wharton Smith, Inc.
- WELBRO Building Corp
- Ajax Building Corporation
- Hedrick Brothers Construction Co., Inc.
At the recommendation of the Selection Committee, the School Board approved the award of RFQ 22-697-Q-DR, Construction Management Services for the New Mid County Area Middle School project to Wharton Smith, Inc., as the top-ranked firm. The award includes the School Board authorizing the execution of the construction management contract and approving the preconstruction services proposal in an amount not to exceed $154,147.
Future Board actions will consider the Guaranteed Maximum Price for construction services. The project is funded through educational impact fees. Administration and permitting costs were previously budgeted.
