Those arrested during this operation: Joseph Aussant, Paul Bachman, Kenneth Burnsed, Kevin Carney, Jason Hewitt, Robert Retus, and Freddie Robinson.

According to the Chief, the operation was initiated following numerous complaints from the community regarding illicit activities occurring within the park, which is located in the city’s Northeast sector. The department responded by increasing patrols, conducting surveillance, and engaging in community outreach to address the concerns.

Palm Bay Police Chief Augello speaks on a successful operation conducted by our Criminal Investigations Division following numerous complaints about illegal narcotics and sexual activity at AIS Park.

The undercover operation, led by detectives from the department’s Investigations Division, not only resulted in seven arrests but also deterred an additional 16 individuals who were likely in the park for illegal activities. These individuals, upon realizing the potential consequences, chose to leave the area before committing any crimes.

“This operation would not have been successful without the community’s vigilance and confidence in our Police Department,” said a spokesperson for the Palm Bay Police Department. “I encourage our residents to report any suspicious activity and stay engaged in park-related safety initiatives.”

The police also revealed that their intelligence units have identified several websites promoting parks within Palm Bay and across Brevard County as meeting points for criminal activities. The department is actively monitoring these sites and has vowed to continue its efforts to investigate and arrest those involved in such activities.

“Let this operation be an example,” the spokesperson added. “Our efforts will not stop here. Think twice the next time you attempt to commit a crime in the city of Palm Bay—you just might be dealing with one of our undercover agents.”

The department extended its gratitude to the citizens of Palm Bay for their partnership and to the dedicated law enforcement professionals who worked tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.

Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the Palm Bay Police Department as the city continues its commitment to maintaining a safe environment for all.
