A security recording from a restaurant in Indian Harbour Beach on December 20, 2022, created outrage from the community when we broke the story.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife reported that the footage displayed Brian Waddill fishing and subsequently beating to death a lemon shark on its head using a hammer before pulling it back into the water.
The FWC charged him with keeping a banned species and causing it undue harm, which is a misdemeanor.
Court records indicate that Waddill received a 12-month probation and was instructed to cover court fees and penalties totaling $336. Additionally, he was directed to contribute $250 to the Brevard Zoo and enroll in a shark fishing class.
