Preliminary reports indicate that the crash involved a 2019 RAM 1500 pickup truck (V1) and a 2009 Honda VT750 motorcycle (V2). Authorities say the pickup truck, driven by a 66-year-old man from Eaton, Ohio, was stopped at a stop sign, facing west, before attempting to turn left onto US-1. As the driver proceeded, he entered the direct path of the motorcycle, which was traveling northbound in the outside lane. The left side of the pickup truck struck the motorcycle.
The motorcycle’s rider, an unidentified male, was rushed to Parrish Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased. A female passenger on the motorcycle was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious injuries but is reportedly in stable condition.
The driver of the pickup truck was not injured and remained at the scene.
Authorities have temporarily closed the northbound lanes of US-1 as they continue their investigation. Further updates are expected as more information becomes available.
The Florida Highway Patrol urges drivers to exercise caution and awareness when making turns onto high-traffic roadways, particularly when motorcycles are present.
