Edgewood’s 8th grader Collin Liston tragically killed in dirt bike accident

At approximately 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, Titusville Police Officers responded to a report of a traffic crash with injuries involving a City of Titusville vehicle and a dirt bike near the intersection of North Dixie Avenue and Georgia Avenue.

The preliminary investigation revealed a motorcyclist, riding a dirt bike northbound on North Dixie Avenue, struck the back of a city solid waste dump truck on North Dixie Avenue. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dearest Edgewood Families,

It is with a heavy heart that I share this tragic news with you. We lost an incredible student on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. Collin Liston, 8th grade, passed away tragically. So many of our students (and families) knew this amazing boy and his family. I know many of you have already reached out asking what you can do to provide support. Below is an avenue that can help lift some of the burden they are feeling right now.

Administration and Guidance will work with Edgewood’s PTO to share all information, and you may share with others. This news is devastating to our community so please reach out to Administration/Guidance should you need additional support. District personnel and support counselors will be on campus and available when we return to school on Monday, January 8, so please do not hesitate to let us know your needs. We will operate on a regular bell schedule (we will not have any Mental Health Education lessons).

A Celebration of Life for Collin will be at the North Brevard funeral home on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 11 am. Please click the link below for detailed information.

Obituary

Collin Jacob Liston, 14, was taken from us Tuesday January 2nd. Collin was born at Parrish Medical Center to his parents Conan and Stephanie Liston on October 21, 2009. Collin was in 8th grade at Edgewood Jr. / Sr. High School. He loved the outdoors. As an active member of Boy Scout Troop 488, he loved camping, fishing, shooting, riding bikes and RC cars. Collin is survived by his parents Conan and Stephanie and his sister Katherine “Katie“  of Titusville, FL, his grandparents Neil and Shannon Aportadera of Franklin, Tennessee, Bonny Tousignant of Rockledge and Etienne Tousignant of Titusville, his uncles Timmon Aportadera of Austin, Texas and Myles Tousignant of Port St. John, FL, and cousins Shelby and Landon.

Collin’s life will be celebrated at 11am on Saturday,  January 13, 2024 at North Brevard Funeral Home.  In honor of Collin, guests are encouraged to wear his favorite colors of blue or FSU garnet and gold.
