BREVARD COUNTY • ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA – As the nation continues to participate in demonstrations throughout the country in response to inequality and injustice, we recognize the reasons behind the demonstrations.
The City of Rockledge Mayor, City Council, City Manager and staff want you to know that we see you, and we hear you.
Our mayor, city council, city manager and police chief have received calls and texts about two scheduled demonstrations, including a protest scheduled for Thursday, and a March for Justice, scheduled for this Saturday, June 6.
We would like our citizens to know that we are aware of the event, we hear and understand your concerns, and we are in full support of a peaceful and civil movement to enact change within our society.
We stand united as our community serves as a beacon of light and an example of how a city can come together and bring about change in a peaceful, compassionate and respectful way.
The Rockledge community is blessed to celebrate diversity amongst our citizens as well as our employees, staff and elected officials.
Over many years, Rockledge has developed and continues to maintain a positive and productive relationship within our community. We are dedicated to supporting our community as we take the next steps toward unity, equality and justice.
We do not condone the heinous acts that caused the death of George Floyd. We understand that the community is looking for justice, accountability and communication.
As a City, we always strive to serve our citizens with integrity, fairness and compassion. We are here to support the movement towards justice while preserving the safety and security of our residents, our businesses and our community as we join together peacefully to enact change.
