Bus Driver Arrested for Allegedly Grabbing Student by the Neck in Brevard County

Melbourne, Fla. — A school bus driver in Brevard County was arrested on Monday following an incident where police allege he assaulted a 12-year-old student. According to the Melbourne Police Department, the driver is accused of pushing the student into a seat and placing his hands around the student’s neck.

The event occurred while the bus was en route to the South Alternative Learning Center, with other students present. Witnesses report the driver stopped the bus and approached the student before the altercation occurred.

Multiple students on board witnessed the assault, and police say video footage from the bus confirmed the incident. Officers responded to the call, locating and arresting the driver without incident. He has been charged with child abuse without great bodily harm.
