A tragic collision on Sunday evening in Poinciana, Osceola County resulted in the deaths of four individuals, with three of them being children. The incident occurred at approximately 6:55 p.m. on the crossroads of San Miguel Street and Laurel Avenue, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

The collision was caused by a 15-year-old boy driving at a dangerous speed who failed to halt at a stop sign. His vehicle, a 2012 Chevrolet Impala, carried three other 15-year-old passengers. Heading north on Laurel Avenue, the teen’s negligence led to a devastating impact with a 2022 Honda HR-V that was progressing westward on San Miguel Street.

Post-collision, the Honda skidded onto a nearby grass verge and met with a light pole, the FHP’s detailed report noted.

A heart-wrenching result of the accident saw the 50-year-old female driver of the Honda and a child declared deceased on site. Tragically, two more children succumbed to their injuries in the hospital. The children’s ages were 1, 9, and 11. A 52-year-old male, also in the Honda, managed to survive but is grappling with severe injuries.

The adolescent at the wheel sustained grave injuries and is presently hospitalized. His three companions in the car received medical attention for minor injuries. The FHP has not yet concluded its investigation into the tragic event.
