The City of Cocoa has been awarded a $1,494,500 Assistance Program grant from the Florida Inland Navigation District (FIND) to fund Phase II of the Cocoa Waterfront Park Dock & Breakwater Project, which will redesign docking options at Cocoa Village and provide added protection from future storms. In November 2022, Hurricane Nicole destroyed the existing day slips at Lee Wenner Park, leaving boaters without a place to dock.
The awarded funds will support the construction costs to replace the damaged day slips and the installation of riprap revetment along the existing bulkhead to protect both the slips and shoreline from erosion and reduced wave action. A rock barrier will also be installed to shield the slips from future storm impacts.
