PALM BAY, Fla. — A Palm Bay couple has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of child neglect and endangerment after police discovered several children living in what officers described as “unsafe, unsanitary, and hazardous” conditions inside their home.
According to the Palm Bay Police Department report, Officer McMahon responded on September 2, 2025, to a call in reference to a Department of Children and Families (DCF) joint response. Upon arrival, officers observed that the defendant, Nathan Forczyk, and co-defendant, Laura Michelle Forczyk, had been confining children—ranging in age from toddlers to older minors—inside separate locked bedrooms.
Each locked room reportedly contained only a child-sized potty-training toilet. Officers noted that the children had no access to food, water, or restroom facilities and were living without basic hygiene supplies, such as soap or means to wash themselves.
“The children were living in conditions that were unsafe, unsanitary, and hazardous to their health,” the report stated.
Inside the residence, officers found large sections of drywall torn away, exposing live electrical wiring. They described the home’s interior atmosphere as overwhelming, filled with a strong odor of cat urine, human waste, and feces. Both feces and urine were visibly present throughout multiple areas of the house, creating a health hazard and making it difficult to breathe inside.
While on the scene, police said some of the children attempted to ingest medical marijuana left out in plain sight.
Given the totality of the circumstances, both Nathan and Laura Forczyk were arrested and charged with six counts of child neglect. They were taken into custody without incident, processed at the Palm Bay Police Department, and later transferred to the Brevard County Jail for booking.
Authorities confirmed that DCF is involved in the ongoing investigation to ensure the safety and care of the children.
