Police Investigate Threat Against Southwest Middle School, Student Suspended

Palm Bay Police are investigating a threat of violence made toward Southwest Middle School after a report was submitted through Fortify Florida on Thursday night.

According to officials, officers immediately responded to the student’s residence and began an investigation. Charges are pending against the student, who has since been suspended from Southwest Middle School while the investigation continues.

In a statement, officials emphasized their appreciation for the individual who submitted the tip. “We are tremendously grateful that someone had the courage to report what they saw. We take every threat seriously and will continue to ensure the safety of our students and schools,” the statement read.

As an added precaution, there will be an increased police presence at Southwest Middle School in the coming days.

Fortify Florida is a state-supported platform that allows students, parents, and community members to quickly and anonymously report suspicious activity or safety concerns. Officials encouraged the public to continue using the system, noting that this case demonstrates how tips can help prevent potential tragedies.
