29-year-old man killed by SUV after lying down in the road in Merrit Island

Florida Highway Patrol reports that a man was struck and killed while lying on the road at North Banana River Dr and Central Ave late Friday night.

The report states that the 29-year-old man from Merritt Island was lying in the northbound lane of Banana River Drive in the direct path of an oncoming SUV.

The SUV struck the man and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the SUV, a 57-year-old woman from Merrit Island was not injured and remained at the scene.
