16-year old boy shot to death in Melbourne

A 16-year old boy was rushed to the hospital Wednesday night with multiple gunshot wounds where he died of his injuries according to Melbourne Police.

Police state that the shooting occurred at Marshall Drive and Xavier Ave around 7pm last night.

There were multiple shell casings at the scene. According to police, they have not found any additional victims at this time.

This shooting comes after a string of drive-by shootings several nights ago in Melbourne, that resulted only in property damage. Police are investigating whether the shootings are related although they did happen in the same neighborhood.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released, as family is still being notifed.

A Cocoa Beach burglary case took an unusual turn this week after police say a man hired to help move someone out of their home returned overnight and made himself a little too comfortable.According to the Cocoa Beach Police Department, officers responded to a Carmine Drive residence on June 15 around 12:37 p.m. after the homeowner, who was in the middle of moving and not on site, spotted an unknown man entering and leaving the house on their doorbell camera. Officers searched the area but the man had already taken off.Detectives kept digging and identified him as 41-year-old Steven Snooks, who had no address listed. Investigators say Snooks had actually worked at the home as an employee of a moving company the victim previously hired. After the job was done, police say he came back overnight without permission, ate the homeowner’s food, used the shower, and slept in a bed inside the residence.Snooks was located by patrol officers and taken into custody on June 18. He was booked into the Brevard County Jail and is being held on a $15,000 bond.The case is still under investigation.
