16-year old boy shot to death in Melbourne

A 16-year old boy was rushed to the hospital Wednesday night with multiple gunshot wounds where he died of his injuries according to Melbourne Police.

Police state that the shooting occurred at Marshall Drive and Xavier Ave around 7pm last night.

There were multiple shell casings at the scene. According to police, they have not found any additional victims at this time.

This shooting comes after a string of drive-by shootings several nights ago in Melbourne, that resulted only in property damage. Police are investigating whether the shootings are related although they did happen in the same neighborhood.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released, as family is still being notifed.
