Aldi dropping prices this summer to help customers with inflation

Aldi, the discount grocery chain, is slashing prices on hundreds of products to help customers cope with inflation. The retailer announced that its team is passing along $100 million in savings to customers through Labor Day by reducing prices on more than 250 items.

“Aldi is always looking for ways to help customers save money, but with more experts warning of persistent inflation, the time was right to deliver even greater discounts on our already low prices for the second year in a row,” said Dave Rinaldo, president of Aldi U.S.

The price reductions are expected to nearly double the savings compared to last year, building on the previous year’s announcement that Aldi was reducing prices on products that saved shoppers more than $60 million.

“We don’t want food prices to hold people back from getting together with friends and family or spending time outdoors this season,” Rinaldo added.

The reduced prices will apply to seasonal products like picnic essentials, barbecue staples, travel snacks, and healthier food options. Increasing customer demand is also driving Aldi’s growth, as the company plans to add 800 stores nationwide over the next five years.
