VIERA, FL — For the second time in under two years, a teacher at Viera High School has been arrested on charges related to domestic violence — this time for felony battery by strangulation.

Samuel Davison, who is employed as a math teacher at Viera High School, was taken into custody on April 13, 2025, following a violent altercation reported at the Artisan at Viera apartments. According to police reports, Davison allegedly assaulted his wife, during a dispute over a cell phone and internet router. The incident escalated when Davison repeatedly slammed a bathroom door on her arm, forcibly dragged her inside, and choked her while pinning her to a bed. The victim told police she struggled to breathe during the attack and sustained visible red marks on her throat and wrists consistent with being grabbed and slammed against a door.

This arrest follows a previous domestic violence incident involving Davison from October 2023, when he was charged with domestic battery after shoving a woman, grabbing her face, and throwing a cup of liquid at her during an argument. That incident was also captured on home surveillance video and led to his initial arrest.

Now, Davison is facing enhanced charges under Florida Statute 784.041 for domestic battery by strangulation — a third-degree felony punishable by up to five years in prison.

Despite the prior arrest, Davison has remained employed as a teacher at Viera High School. It is currently unclear whether Brevard Public Schools were aware of the 2023 arrest, and what action, if any, was taken at that time. The district has not yet responded to requests for comment.

The repeated allegations raise questions about the district’s procedures for handling employee arrests, particularly when it involves violent offenses. Parents and community members are expressing outrage on social media, with some calling for immediate termination and a full investigation into how Davison was allowed to continue teaching after his first arrest.
