A man accused of fatally shooting Craig Dewberry at a Melbourne mini-mart on Tuesday has been apprehended, the Melbourne Police Department confirmed.
Authorities identified the suspect as Malachi Dante Bell, 21. According to the police, Bell attempted to flee to South Florida after the incident. He had traveled to Sebastian with plans to board a Greyhound bus, where Melbourne police detectives and officers from the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office located and arrested him at the bus station on Tuesday evening.
Bell has a lengthy criminal history with a recent arrest just this past July.
Bell is now facing charges of first-degree murder and robbery with a firearm. He remains in custody as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
