Satellite Beach croc captured and relocated

American crocodiles are a recovering threatened species native to South Florida and the Keys- but, recently there have been several sightings in the Satellite Beach area.

Earlier today, this American crocodile was spotted in the unincorporated area of Satellite Beach. FWC was notified and a licensed trapper responded, safely trapped, and prepared the croc for relocation. Our SBPD officers were called upon to assist with some of the heavy lifting!

If you spot a croc, call 866-392-4286 (866-FWC-GATOR). FWC staff will offer educational information about safely living with crocodiles. If warranted, a site visit may be done to evaluate the location and behavior and determine a course of action.
