Police identify 28-year-old man shot dead on scooter last night

Melbourne, FL – Melbourne police have identified the man found shot to death early Tuesday morning as 28-year-old Kyeon Rashad Roberson. The identification was made public at 9:40 a.m. today, though no further updates have been released by the authorities regarding the investigation or possible suspects.

Early Tuesday morning, an officer on patrol discovered a man lying on the ground around 12:26 a.m. in the area of Grant and Ryoland streets. Initially, the officer believed the man had been injured in a gas-powered scooter accident. However, around the same time, 911 dispatchers had received calls about shots being fired in the area.

Upon closer inspection, officers found that the man, now identified as Kyeon Rashad Roberson, had been shot. Despite immediate medical aid provided by police and paramedics, Roberson had already succumbed to his injuries.

A comprehensive search of the area, involving officers, police K9 units, and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office helicopter, was conducted, but the gunman remains at large.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. This case is still under active investigation.
