(Melbourne, FL) – Dr. Terrence A. Cronin Jr., a prominent Melbourne dermatologist is under investigation by the Office of Election Crimes and Security following allegations of voter fraud and ethical misconduct. Public records indicate that Dr. Cronin changed his voter registration to his medical office at 1399 S. Harbor City Blvd., Melbourne, FL 32901, just days after filing his Republican candidacy for the Florida House of Representatives District 32 seat. His actual residence with his wife remains at 150 Riverside Drive, Melbourne Beach, FL, which is located in District 33. His medical office is located in District 32 and Florida law requires that State Representatives live in the district they represent.

Governor DeSantis called for the Special Election once Representative Debbie Mayfield submitted her resignation from the seat to run for the Senate 19 seat that she just termed out of last year. The seat became vacant when Randy Fine resigned to run for U.S. Congress.

The Florida voter registration form explicitly mandates that registrants provide their “residential address where you live in FL”, specifying that it cannot be a P.O. Box or business address. Knowingly providing false information on this form constitutes a third-degree felony under Florida law. Dr. Cronin’s decision to register on December 16, 2024 at his commercial office, which is neither zoned nor approved for residential use, raises significant legal and ethical concerns. While researching candidates who filed to run for the District 32 Special Election, we noticed the obvious business address on his voter registration and notified law enforcement.
A recent investigation by City of Melbourne Code Enforcement confirmed that no one resides at the Cronin Skin Cancer Center address and that the property is designated and zoned strictly for commercial purposes. This independent finding further substantiates the improbability of Dr. Cronin’s claim of living at his office.
Dr. Cronin’s actions appear to be a deliberate attempt to circumvent residency requirements to legally qualify to represent District 32 without actually living there. Such behavior not only potentially violates state election laws but also calls into question his integrity as a medical professional. If a physician is willing to falsify public records under penalty of felony perjury for political gain, it raises concerns about their adherence to ethical standards in their medical practice. As such, a complaint has also been filed with the Florida Board of Medicine.
Additionally, according to the Brevard County Property Appraiser’s records, Dr. Cronin is benefiting from 2 homestead exemptions on his Melbourne Beach home. A homeowner can only claim the exemption for their primary residence, where they live. By claiming to live at his doctors office as his residence on his voter registration, Dr. Cronin would possibly be committing homestead exemption fraud. The Brevard County Property Appraiser’s Compliance Unit is currently investigating that allegation.
It was reported to us that the Republican Liberty Caucus of Florida Chair Bob White, said when he heard about the allegations that “Cronin may treat skin cancer, but he needs to be treated as pre-cancerous and cut out of Brevard politics before he metastasizes.” He has not responded to inquiries from us about the comment.
Dr. Cronin’s actions beg the question of why such a successful and well educated physician would subject himself to such serious criminal allegations for a 2-year elected office that pays just over $29,000 annually. The answer may be tied to his close relationship with disgraced former Brevard County Commissioner Bryan Lober who, according to others was pushing Cronin to run for the office, and is assisting directly with his campaign along with twice failed Rockledge City Council candidate and local RLC Chair Josiah Gattle.
Lober faced investigations by the State Attorney’s Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) for alleged misuse of county funds and tax fraud. Although charges were not filed according to State Attorney Phil Archer due to the expiration of the statute of limitations, the investigations revealed serious unethical and criminal felony conduct. Dr. Cronin’s close friendship with Lober, who had previously presented him with a county commission resolution, further complicates his public image.
Lober-Dispositon-LetterIn April of 2021, Lober presented Terry Cronin with a resolution from the Brevard County Commission, and oddly during his presentation referenced Dr. Cronin seeing him “in his natural state” (presumably naked). You can watch that speech below.
Dr. Cronin has been a Melbourne resident for 52 years and operates the Cronin Skin Cancer Center with his family. He has served as the immediate past president of the American Academy of Dermatology and has been an advocate for skin cancer patients. His recent entry into politics, however, has been marred by these allegations, casting a shadow over his professional and personal reputation.
As the investigation continues, the public awaits clarity on the implications of Dr. Cronin’s actions and their potential impact on his medical practice and political aspirations. We reached out to Dr. Cronin directly for comment on this story and he has not responded.
