— Matt Gaetz (@mattgaetz) July 26, 2021Congressman Gaetz has been touring the country with fellow Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene. Last week in California, the pair or polarizing representatives had their 3rd venue in a row cancel their event.
The Anaheim Event Center in Orange County on Saturday canceled its last-minute plan to host the Southern California tour stop, citing general security concerns, according to city spokesperson Mike Lyster.
While the venue is privately owned, Lyster said the decision with the venue’s owner was reached after the city expressed concerns over general public safety.
Lyster said the event would’ve required the city to work with the county sheriff’s office and with the neighboring police agencies to provide the needed security. It is not clear whether or not Sheriff Wayne Ivey will be using his agency to provide services for the event.
No other local elected officials have stated that they will or will not be attending the event. Posts on social media are already hinting at protests and demonstrations against the event itself.
It appears this event will not feature Congresswoman Greene.
