Court reinstates the stay on Judge Cooper’s ruling that mask mandates are legal in schools
Today the 1st District Court of Appeals granted the Governor’s request. That means Judge Cooper’s ruling is effectively put on hold as the case moves through the appeals process for the next 60-90 days. This enables the Governor to follow through on threats to school boards that have implemented mask mandates without parental opt-outs.
The Federal Department of Education has come to the defense of local school boards and offered grants to subsidize any financial punishments the state may inflict on school districts and boards, to include withholding salaries.
