A viral social media post circulating last that warned of potential school shootongs at several schools today has been deemed “not credible” by the Brevard County Sheriffs Office according to a statement released by Rockledge High’s Principal Andy Papczynski.

I an email released this morning, he stated:

“The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, Rockledge Police Department, and Cocoa Police Department have thoroughly investigated the rumors of a potential threat to several Brevard Public Schools circulating on social media. They have determined that the information is NOT credible. There is no current threat.”

“Hopefully, this update will calm any fears that this may have caused as misinformation can spread quickly in the era of social media,” he went on to say and emphasized that school operations will continue as normal today.

Of concern to some however, there has still not been an official statement released from the communications department from the school district at-large.
